How to Use Markers in Speech Therapy

How to use markers in speech therapy. Week of speech therapy activities using only markers

Sometimes you can’t (or don’t want to) carry a ton of games and materials with you to each therapy session. I often don’t…but did you know there are TONS of things you can do in speech therapy sessions using only a pack of markers? Check out these ideas for some easy and low prep speech therapy activities using only a pack of markers!

1. Articulation Tic Tac Toe

Articulation Activity Tic Tac Toe

Who doesn’t love a quick game of Articulation Tic Tac Toe. Print these out for your sessions or for homework. Grab a marker and get a ton of trials with these simple games. Students can practice at word level by repeating each word 3x before placing an X or O or they can practice at sentence level by making a sentence with the word before placing an X or O.

2. Articulation Mystery Pictures

Articulation Activity Color By Number

These are a hit with all students! Grab one of these worksheet packets and you are set for all your students no matter the target. Students practice each word as they color in the matching square. At the end, a secret picture is revealed. The best part is each page has 100 trials built in! It’s fun for the students and gets a ton of trials in…win win!

There are articulation packets for Christmas, Sweet Treats, Valentine’s Day, and more! Check them out to see all the different themes!

3. Articulation Say and Find Activity

Articulation Activity Say and Find

Want an engaging activity with no prep? Grab these Articulation Say and Find Worksheets for a fun session with tons of trials. Students search for the pictures “I Spy” style. As they search for each word, have them practice the target a few times or make a sentence out of it (e.g., “I spy a ___”). These are also super great as homework practice. Students love to race against each other to see who can find all the items the fastest. This packet includes all sounds so students in mixed groups can compete against each other too.

4. No Prep Articulation Bunny Carrot Hunt

No Prep Articulation Worksheets Spring and Easter

Another great no prep activity that only involves a pack of markers: Bunny Carrot Hunt! These simple worksheets have 12 targets per page. Students practice each word as they color in each carrot. It’s super simple, quick, and gets tons of trials in! Check out the other themed No Prep Articulation Worksheet Packets such as Turkey Hunt, Penguin Hunt, and Valentine’s Day Teddy Bear Hunt.

5. Articulation Fill in the Blank Stories (Mad Lib Style)

Articulation Fill in the Blanks Activity

This last idea doesn’t even need a whole pack of markers…just one will do! These fill in the blank silly stories are a huge hit especially for older students. The best part is that articulation targets are embedded into the story already (20+targets each). No more trying to think of an adverb with a SH in the middle! Grab these Articulation Fill in the Bank Stories for a laugh-filled session with tons of trials.
